On 23rd and 24th June 2018, experience the traditional St. John Day's Medieval Festival at Gruyères Castle.
On guard, knights! Soldiers and masters-at-arms cross swords for the medieval festival of St John. Cannons and harquebuses sound to herald a legendary weekend at Gruyères Castle. Opening the doors of their arsenals, the medieval companies reveal the secrets of the weapons of yesteryear, how they were used and the military tactics that forged the reputation of the bold Confederates. Observe the precision of the crossbowmen, elect the most valiant attacker and witness the knight's equipment before his knighthood.
Dare to test your swordsmanship? A host of workshops and demonstrations await knights young and old. From the courtyard to the garden, discover the invaluable skills of the craftsmen and feast on medieval delicacies to the rhythm of the music of the merry troubadours.
