“That is so medieval!” But were the Middle Ages truly as cruel and ignorant as the saying suggests? For a weekend, Gruyères Castle challenges the clichés and sheds light on the knowledge, wonders, and mysteries of the 15th century.
Learn about the secrets of surgery and medicine. Test your knowledge of remarkable military advancements. Admire the distant explorations, rediscoveries, and inventions of a surprising world. Your curiosity will be satisfied by a variety of workshops and demonstrations. Throughout the day, enjoy medieval delights in a joyful and festive atmosphere.
And make sure to write down your vow and join the festivities on Saturday night after dark around the St. John’s bonfire!
Hours
Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm.
In the town of Gruyères, show followed by a Midsummer bonfire in the town at around 9 pm.
Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm.
