On 21st and 22nd June 2025, experience the traditional St. John Day's Medieval Festival at Gruyères Castle.
Houppelandes, poulaines, gambesons... ready for a makeover? For just a weekend, the Gruyères Castle unveils the fashion trends of the 15th-century in a colorful atmosphere. The Counts’ Court rolls out the red carpet, turning into a showroom. Medieval companies and artisans reveal the secrets of ancient craftsmanship by offering a peak behind the scenes of their workshops.
Be enchanted by sumptuous fabrics, try on quirky headpieces, and take a seat by the catwalk to cheer on the fashion show. Take part in workshops and demonstrations throughout the day, and spin and dance to the lively rhythms of traditional music.
On Saturday, don’t forget to write down your wish and, at nightfall, join in the festivities around the St. John’s bonfire!
Hours
Saturday, 9am – 7pm

Join the castle by public transport!
The Gruyères-Ville bus stop is located at the entrance to the town (5-7 minutes from the castle).
From the Gruyères-Gare SBB station, allow around 20 minutes' walk.
